    Hi Everyone!

This October at the National TSFC Conference held in St. John's, Newfoundland, the Advocacy Committee will be holding a one day workshop entitled “Advocacy Matters”. If you are a volunteer for the Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada and are attending this year's conference we hope that you will consider signing up for our workshop. This will be a full day session on October 2nd.

If you are not able to attend or do not volunteer for the TSFC we would still like to hear from you! Specifically we seek input on the following:

    1. If the TSFC offered online learning what types of courses would you like to see available on an e-learning platform?

    2. We are in the process of developing an Advocacy Web Portal that we hope to add to the TSFC website in the near future. What advocacy tools would you like to see there?

Please reply directly to this thread before September 30th to ensure all ideas are presented during our breakout sessions on Volunteer Development Day at the 2008 National Conference.

Thank you so much for your feedback!

    Re: Advocacy Matters

    Hi Patti,

I would love to see the Advocacy Training and In-Service Training offered on-line. I really struggled with taking advantage of these great opportunities at the conference, but decided to take in the sights of St. John's instead.

As for the advocacy portal, can you explain a little more about what it's designed to do?

      Re: Advocacy Matters

Portals present information from diverse sources in a unified way. Sometimes access to a “portal” is with a password and once entered, you then gain access to additional information. But it doesn’t have to be….

There could be things on there like tips for developing IEP Plans, advocacy laws, rights & strategies, self-advocacy tips, etc.

What would you like to see?
