Thread: Anybody else here with TS and Asperger Syndrome?

Default Anybody else here with TS and Asperger Syndrome?

I know it is a longshot, but I would really like to hear from others who have both TS and AS. I don't know anybody else with TS or AS in person, and would just love to meet somebody with either one, one of these days. But to be able to talk to somebody who has both, like me, would be awesome.

    Default AS

I was reading on the internet last Fall and came across some info on AS, just a description, and I was really surprised at how much what they described sounded like my life.
I am terrrible at socializing and am always amazed at how people interreact with one another especially with humor. As I already have ts+ and at least 5 or 6 other things that are related I never got back to doing any research on AS. Can u recommend a good site?
    Thanks 8)

    Here is one: http://www.tonyattwood.com.au/

    another interesting one: www.isn.net/~jypsy

Some informative quizzes to give you a better idea to see if you have AS:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/life/news/...937443,00.html

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/life/news/...937443,00.html

The two previous ones go together, and give you, when combined, what brain type you are.

    http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/9.12/aqtest.html

Those three are all developed by Simon Baron-Cohen, the leading AS specialist and researcher in Great Britain.

Here's a "Q" that may not have been discussed yet. "Friendship and Relationship Quotient" from Drs. Baron-Cohen and Wheelwright. The score is on a scale from 0 - 140. I haven't been able to find an online version, so you'll have to score yourself manually.

    1. Go to http://www.autismresearchcentre.com/docs/tests/FQ.pdf and answer the questions as quickly as you can (don't stop to think about your answers). You can only pick one answer for each question. Either write down your answers or make a note of them in a word processor, etc.

    2. Go to http://www.autismresearchcentre.com/...BCandSW_FQ.pdf and refer to the Appendix, starting on page 6, to score your test. You get the number of points that appear in the box that corresponds to your answer to each question. Don't miss the starred (*) answers on question 34. The questions that have empty boxes for the answers don't count towards your score.

Add up all your points. The total is your FQ. The higher the number, the better you are at forming and maintaining close friendships / relationships. People with AS tend to have lower FQs.
And here is another one, which I really like:
    http://www.rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php

When I did all these quizzes, it was quite obvious I have AS, as I scored very high, even for an Aspie. Of course, my self-diagnosis was eventually confirmed by a professional specializing in AS in adults.

I just tried this quiz and found the leaning towards AS.. this is a surprise to me, however, I've never heard of this until a couple of weeks ago on a Dr. Phil show.

I'm sure learning so much about myself that was a huge puzzle to me and the feeling that I didn't quite belong here and the question about why I felt the way I do and why I had unusual traits that I could never see in anyone else or heard about.

Hi Deb, and welcome to our forum! I didn't see your posts on Friday, because my husband and I just got back from a holiday yesterday.

And you're in Barrie! Maybe we could meet some time, I don't know anybody with either AS or TS here, never mind both! It would be really interesting to actually meet somebody in person who is like me, and close in age, too.

I'll PM you with my e-mail address and phone number.

I love tests. ROFL! They're fun. thanks for posting those Uschi.

I took one of those you posted and it said "You seem to have some Aspie or ADHD-traits but well below average for Aspies". :D
