Default AVENUE Q and the 'normal people' concept

I just had to throw this "Across the Fence".

There is a Tony award winning musical called Avenue Q (rated R most likely, sorry) that has an awesome moment in it where one of the monsters (yes, monsters) calls out to the group for help in an argument:

    "Normal people don't..."
    "Oh, really? Ready normal people!"
    "Ready!!"

The way he says, "Ready normal people!" is going into my catalog of sayings for conventions and support groups. It is the only place I can think of where someone actually challenged the 'normal people' BS in such a funny, down to earth way. "Okay, let's ask some normal people."

I think the author is in a way saying that there are no 'normal people'.

    ps:

And, yes, for those of you who go check the play out, the song is dirty - as is most of the play - but it does such a good job of knocking icons off their pedestals that I had to fall in love with it. Truthspeakers get my vote!

I like it, although I must challenge it on one thing, Darin.

I met a normal person once before. It was scary.

So a hotel full of Touretters was cool, but one normal person scared you.

I think you prove my point, almost.

    Default Normal?

So far the most normal person i have met was Andrew who kept asking to rub my bald head...... He still owes me a dollar.

Yep. If Tourette's Syndrome exists in one out of every two hundred people, I imagine that one out of every two thousand may suffer from normality.

He didn't offer to pay me for dropping my own book on my head. Ah well.

    ...good times.

Sh! Don't tell anyone - I wrote Andrew into one of my articles for the web site. It's my only possible revenge...
