Thread: Diagnosis Rules

    Default Diagnosis Rules

My daughter has been given a General MD diagnosis and is still awaiting a neurological diagnosis as I have said. Someone said that in order for it to be TS, a behavioral problem must be present as well. Is this true? My daughter has no anger, rage , ADD, outbursts or any other behavioral issues.
    Would like to know.

    Hi Cherry,

That is a very good question and your gut instinct was right to question the accuracy of that statement.

Here is a link to the question What is Tourette Syndrome.

Some people with TS may have additional problems like ADHD, OCD, etc. but the occurrence rate is still in question.

My son has TS with ADHD. The TS does not bother him very much but the ADHD makes his school life difficult at times but we just take each day as it comes.

We are always here to help in any way that we can.

The link on the TSFC page Steph pointed to is an excellent resource.

For the diagnostic criteria used by physicians for Tourette, look HERE
